Ahmad b. Hanbal and others have said that the mursalat of Sa`id (i.e. those traditions where he did not name the Companion) are authentic. Ibn al-Madani said: I am not aware of any Successor with wider knowledge than him. In my view, he was the most lofty of the Successors.
