Kaffara

Fidyah (Arabic: الفدية‎) and Kaffara (Arabic: كفارة‎) are religious donations made in Islam when a fast (notably in Ramadan) is missed or broken. The donations can be of food, or money, and it is used to feed those in need.

There is no Kaffara for disobeying the guidance of the Istekhara but there is a harm in someway which we might know later if we go against the guidance of valid Istekhara.

This narration is mentioned in Al-Kaafi, Fasting chapter, part 4. It is not obligatory to pay Kaffara for just saying that although it is not good to say Ramadan only instead of saying Month of Ramadan. It is always good to give Sadaqa for any good reason.

If he traveled during the fasting of sixty days of Kaffara, he must fast the days of the traveling immediately after the travel and continue fasting the remains days of the sixty. If he traveled  and did not compensate the days of the travel immediately and made a deliberate gap, he will then  need to restart the Kaffara fast again.

Kaffara is a penalty on those who deliberately break obligatory fast or do not keep it. For those who deliberately don’t fast during the month of Ramadan, for one day,v the Kaffara is either fasting two sequent months or feeding sixty poor believers. It is good to do it as soon as possible and should not be postponed to an extended that it might be forgotten or ignored. Feeding sixty poor believers must be by giving them ready food or food grain and not money. Every ooor believers must must be given either a meal or 750 grams of food grains.

Kaffara is obligatory for every day of deliberate breaking fast beside Qadha of that fast. If you don't have money to feed sixty poor believers, you can fast two months as Kaffara of not fasting deliberately for each day. If you can not do that, you should wait till you are able to earn and feed the poor believers.

It is not kaffarah that they pay. It is fidyah, which is 750g of certain food items, per day. You can give it to a relative, if they are needy, and it can be given at any time.

Deliberate breaking the fast during the Month of Ramadan is a major sin which needs seeking forgiveness (Isteghfaar) as many times as we can as well as Qadha of that fas, with Kaffara of breaking the fast. Kaffara is either fasting two months or feeding sixty poor believers or freeing a slave (Which is not possible now a days).

Feeding sixty poor believers is by offering each of them a meal or 750 grams of food grains like rice or wheat or flour.

In any case, children do not have the right to hit or even to raise their voices against their parents. Showing anger towards parents and shouting at them out of anger is forbidden let alone hitting them which will be punished by very severe and heavy punishment.
You have to only ask him to stop beating her and if you can become a block on the way of her getting hit then do it. But you have no right to hit your father back.
As for Kaffarah there's nothing mentioned in this regard. Just try to ask him for forgiveness in a polite manner so that he forgives you and try to make him happy. This way we hope that he changes his attitude towards your mother too.
