Chapter 31: Revelation Of Qur’an During The Night Of Qadr

Shaykh Abu Ja’far said that the transmission of the Holy Qur’an began in the month of Ramadhan, and then it was transmitted gradually over twenty years. God had provided a complete overview of the Qur’an to the Prophet beforehand, that is why He said:

“Supremely exalted is therefore Allah, the King, the Truth and (O, Prophet) do not make haste with the Qur’an before its revelation is made complete to you and say: O my Lord! Increase me in knowledge” (20:114).

Qur’an invited the Prophet to supplicate in this manner:

“O my Lord! Increase me in knowledge” (20:114).

Once again, the Prophet was advised by God:

“(O Prophet) Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it” (75:16).

“Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it” (75:17).

“Therefore, when We have recited it, follow its recitation” (75:18).

“Again, on Us (devolves) the explaining of it” (75:19).
